If You Are Taking a New Puppy Back To Your Property – You Need To Know The Following
You have finally decided to get yourself a dog and this is a very smart decision indeed. You have found a little puppy that will be an excellent addition to your family and it’s likely that you have bought many different supplies so that this new member will be happy during its stay. You set all of the arrangements and now it’s time to take your new puppy home and it is a very exciting time but also one filled with a little bit of stress and anxiety. If this is the first time that you have taken a puppy back to your home then there are a number of things that you need to know before you do.
During the times when you are not there, there is always the option to take your new-found puppy to the local puppy daycare and there they will take steps to provide your pet with the luxuries that all doggies should experience. It is kind of like a puppy hotel and it will get to enjoy excellent bedding, the best of food and lots of loving care and attention. Before you bring your puppy home however the following are some of the things that you need to know.
- It will need an introduction – This introduction would be to its new home but there are a lot of different new smells and places to explore and somewhere to take a nap. This can be very confusing for a new puppy and so letting it run around the whole house is not a good idea. Pick an area of the house where you are happy for your puppy to roam and stick to that. This is where you will keep its food and water and so it will get used to the surroundings.
-
- Get your pet something to chew – This is incredibly important advice because if you don’t spend some money getting your new member of the family something to chew on then it will decide to chew on your best pieces of furniture and your favourite running shoes. You do not want to find yourself in a situation where you might have to scold and spank your puppy and so by some chewy bones or toys.
- Set up a place to sleep – Your new puppy is very much like a newborn baby and it’s gone to sleep a lot for the first few months of its life. Many new puppies can sleep up to 15 hours a day and they will lie down almost anywhere when they are tired. Introduce them to their bedding so they know that this is where the need to be if they want to have a quick nap or going to sleep at night.
Always keep an eye on this new member of your family to make sure it has everything that it needs and start to enforce rules as soon as possible. The earlier that it learns, the happier it will be.
